Other Uses

The heartwood is reddish-brown; it is clearly demarcated from the greyish-brown sapwood. The texture is coarse and uneven due to broad rays; the grain is straight or interlocked, with a silver grain figure on quarter-sawn material. The wood is moderately heavy, moderately hard to hard. It is locally highly favoured for heavy interior construction and railway sleepers, but needs preservation for the latter purpose. It is also used for temporary construction exposed to the weather, furniture, flooring, panelling, boat construction and sliced veneer, and also for agricultural implements[
