Clerodendrum quadriloculare is a fast-growing, highly invasive shrub that has the potential to rapidly invade pastures, forest edges, roadsides, waste grounds and even intact or relatively intact native forests. It produces large amounts of viable seed and can also spread rapidly by means of sprouts and root suckers. Seeds are mostly dispersed by birds and other animals. This species is listed as an invasive plant in several Pacific Islands, where it grows commonly along roadsides, on waste grounds, in disturbed areas etc, and is cultivated in yards and gardens. It has been seen growing in areas of full shade under the forest canopy, where it formed a dense monospecific understory[
