Calophyllum peekelii is an evergreen tree growing from 20 - 40 metres tall with some specimens reputed to have reached 63 metres. It has a broad crown with spreading branches. The straight bole, which sometimes has small, thick buttresses or spurs up to 1.6 metres tall, is up to 180cm in diameter[

A plant of the moist, lowland tropics, where it is found at elevations up to 350 metres. It grows best in areas where annual daytime temperatures are within the range 20 - 30°c, but can tolerate 10 - 38°c[
]. It prefers a mean annual rainfall in the range 2,500 - 3,000mm, but tolerates 1,800 - 3,500mm[

Grows best in a sunny position[
]. Succeeds in most soils of at least moderate fertility[
]. Prefers a pH in the range 5.5 - 6.5, tolerating 4.5 - 7[
].The tree is resistant to quite strong winds[
