General Information

Calophyllum macrocarpum is an evergreen tree, usually growing from 8 - 45 metres tall but with occasional specimens to 60 metres[].
The tree provides an edible fruit and timber, both being harvested from the wild for local use.

At least the outer layer of the fruit appears to be edible with reports that 'the orange sap at cambium pericarp of the fruit may be eaten' and 'the fruit is green and edible with a sweet and somewhat fibrous flesh'[]. The ellipsoid fruit is up to 12.7cm x 6cm[].
