Bussea occidentalis is an evergreen tree with a dense, rounded crown; it can grow up to 30 metres tall. The usually straight, cylindrical bole is rarely more than 75cm in diameter, it has root spurs at the base and rarely has buttresses or thin butt flaresup to 100cm tall[
