The alkaloid 'dehatrine bis-benzylisoquinoline', which is found in the Indonesian medicinal plant, Beilschmiedia madang, has been shown to have a similar activity to quinine, inhibiting the survival of Plasmodium falciparum K1 strain (chloroquine resistant)[
