Bactris oligocarpa is a small, usually single-stemmed, evergreen palm growing up to 2 metres tall. It is sometimes found without a main stem, at other times it has a short stem up to 50cm tall and 8mm in diameter; the stem is topped by a crown of 4 - 10 leaves[
