Annona urbaniana is endemic to Hispaniola, where it is known from only ten localities. It is threatened with ongoing deforestation leading to a loss of habitat, decline in habitat quality and fragmentation of existing populations. The plant is classified as 'Near Threatened' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[].
