The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and a strop for razors.
Annona neoinsignis has a wide range, though it is very scattered within that range. Although it occurs in areas where forest cover loss has been reported over the past years, it is found in more than 10 locations and is not considered to be threatened on a global level. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2013)[
