General Information

Annona neoinsignis is sometimes a shrub, more commonly a tree, growing around 4 - 25 metres tall with a trunk up to 40cm in diameter[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and a strop for razors.
Annona neoinsignis has a wide range, though it is very scattered within that range. Although it occurs in areas where forest cover loss has been reported over the past years, it is found in more than 10 locations and is not considered to be threatened on a global level. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2013)[].

We have no reports of edibility, but the yellow, subglobose to broadly ovoid fruit is 18 - 26mm long and 20 - 26mm in diameter, composed of 50 - 75 carpels with seeds around 7 - 8mm x 5 - 6mm x 2 - 4mm[].
