General Information

Amphipterygium adstringens is a deciduous shrub or small tree, commonly growing about 3 - 6 metres tall, with a broad and rather flat or sometimes narrow crown[]. The bole is low, usually 20 cm or less in diameter, dark greyish brown, and covered on the larger trees with large conic prickle-like projections similar to those found on some species of Zanthoxylum[].
The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a dye and medicine[].
