General Information

Allantoma lineata is an evergreen tree with a broad, dense, pyramidal crown; it can grow 6 - 12 metres tall. The bole can be 25 - 35cm in diameter[].
The tree is harvested from the wild for local use of its edible seed and as a source of wood. It can be grown as a pioneer when restoring native woodland or establishing woodland gardens[].

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in individual containers - placing three or four seeds in each container. A low germination rate can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 40 - 50 days[].
