General Information

Stuhlmannia moavi is an evergreen tree growing from 7.5 - 9 metres tall[], with another report saying it can grow up to 25 metres tall, with a bole up to 100cm and often with buttresses at the base[]..
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a dye and source of wood.
The tree is only known from a few coastal forest fragments. The plant is classified as 'Vulnerable' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2013)[].

Habitat

Dry evergreen and riverine forests; at elevations from 15 - 150 metres[]. Lowland evergreen or deciduous woodland, also in riverine forest. It is found on lime-stone, sandy and basaltic soils[].
