The heartwood is yellow to orange; it is not clearly demarcated from the yellow sapwood. It has a medium lustre and texture, variable grain, no odour, a bitter taste. The wood is very hard, tough, strong, heavy and moderately durable. It requires care in drying. It is not easy to work, but finishes smoothly and takes a high polish. It is used in construction, for fence posts, vehicles, furniture and cross-ties[
