I have written an article about the use of this vine, locally referred to as balunos, in the salt-making process only found in the town of Miagao, Iloilo Province, Philippines. After hiking up the mountains of Miagao with guides we did find areas where Securidaca philippinensis is endemic. The vine is traded by the mountain folks for salt. Hoping this might be useful reference in the future. http://sulugarden.com/articles/blog/asinderos-de-miag-ao-part-2/
