General Information

Polyceratocarpus scheffleri is a tall, evergreen tree.
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and source of wood.
The plant is only known from five locations in Tanzania, and the population is severely fragmented. There is a continuing decline due to habitat loss; disturbance from expanding agriculture; and the spread of alien invasive species. Some subpopulations have already probably being lost. It is classified as 'Endangered' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2011)[
