General Information

Picramnia parvifolia is a semideciduous tree with a small, dense, rounded crown, growing up to 6 metres tall. The straight bole can be 15 - 25cm in diameter[].
The tree is sometimes harvested from the wild for its wood.

The wood is medium-textured, irregular-grained, heavy, hard to cut, with a low resistance to the attacks of wood-eating organisms. The small size of the wood means that it is only really used as a fuel and to make charcoal[].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in a nursery seedbed. A low germination rate can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 40 - 60 days[].
