General Information

Myrciaria disticha is a semideciduous shrub or small tree with a dense crown; it can grow 4 - 6 metres tall. The short bole, which usually branches from low down, can be 15 - 25cm in diameter[].
The tree is harvested from the wild for local use of its wood and edible fruit. A very ornamental tree, it is grown in gardens and is used in landscaping.

Propagation

Seed - it has a short viability and so is best sown as soon as it is ripe. Sow in a semi-shaded position in a nursery seedbed. Germination rates are quite low, with the seed sprouting within 40 - 50 days[].
