Hydrocera triflora is an erect, many-branched, semi-aquatic, herbaceous perennial plant that can grow up to 1 metre tall[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a dye.
The species has a fairly wide distribution in wet topical and subtropical regions of the old world without any known major widespread threats. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2013)[].
