General Information
Faramea occidentalis is a slender, glabrous, evergreen shrub or a tree with a pyramidal or elongate crown; it, rarely reaches a height of 9 metres, usually being much lower. The straight bole can be 8cm or more in diameter[331,447, 551].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use of its wood.

The heartwood is a browny white tinged with yellow; the very thin band of sapwood is nearly white. The wood is close-grained; hard; moderately heavy; strong; very tough. It takes a good polish. The straight stems are extensively used in native house building and general carpentry, while the wood is also used for making tool handles and other small objects[
