The heartwood is bnck red with orange and brown streaks, though old pieces lose their bright colour. The wood is hard, close-grained, shining, seasons well and takes a beautiful polish. The weight is about 23 kilos per cubic foot. It is a very handsomely marked wood and is well worthy of greater attention[
