The name of this species has often been wrongly applied to Dicorynia guianensis. Dicorynis paraensis is found in the rainforests of northern Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela - little is known of its wood. Dicorynia guianensis is a well-known species from the Guyanas of northern S. America and yields a high quality timber[].
