Cryptosepalum exfoliatum is a very variable plant ranging from an evergreen shrub only 20cm tall to an evergreen tree up to 18 metres tall (occasionally to 30 metres). Shrubs are sometimes suffruticose, with stems that are more or less woody and apparently persist for at least two growing seasons[
