Cola pseudoclavata is an evergreen shrub or tree growing 5 - 21 metres tall. The bole is sometimes buttressed, it often branches from low down[].
The tree is harvested from the wild for its wood, which is used locally. It is said to be sometimes cultivated on farms in Tanzania, but details are lacking. It is suitable for providing shade and as a wayside tree[, ].
