Other Uses

The heartwood is reddish brown; it is distinctly demarcated from the almost white sapwood that dries with a light brown tinge. Texture is medium; grain straight; the wood fragrant when fresh, but odour and taste are absent in dried material. The wood is light in weight and fairly soft, but is strong for its weight. It requires a sharp knife to cut smoothly across the grain; saws slightly woolly; capable of taking a smooth finish. It is used in the construction of bridges and industrial floors[
