Caperonia fistulosa is an erect or ascending, slightly branched, annual plant usually growing up to 90cm tall, occasionally to 150cm[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use of its fibre.

Africa - Mali and Benin to Somalia, south through Kenya, eastern DR Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia and Botswana.

Habitat

River banks, floodplains, dambos and drying waterholes in heavy black clay and sandy soils; seasonally waterlogged or permanently moist ground, with grasses and reeds; valley grassland and forest; mud, very heavy black cotton soil; to 1,030 metres[].
