There has been much disagreement amongst botanists over the correct application of the name Calophyllum calaba. Specimens from three different species have at times been confused and given this name. We have followed the treatment of Stevens[

Common Name:
General Information
Calophyllum calaba bracteatum is an evergreen tree growing up to 40 metres tall, with occasional specimens up to 49 metres. The plant is occasionally shrub-like and only 50cm or more tall.
The tree is harvested from the wild for its timber, edible fruit and latex.
Known Hazards
A latex obtained from the plant is used as a fish poison in fresh water[
