Other Uses
The heartwood is a light or medium brown with a reddish tint and with darker markings; it is not clearly demarcated from the yellowish white sapwood. The texture is very fine and even; the grain straight to irregular and wavy; somewhat lustrous; without any characteristic odour or taste. The heartwood is highly resistant to attack by decay fungi and termites. The wood seasons slowly, is prone to surface checking and requires careful air-drying using thin stickers and pile covers. It is reported to saw and machine without particular difficulty; a good turnery wood; it gives a good finish; glues well. The wood is used for parquet flooring, heavy construction, railroad crossties, turnery, mine props etc[
