General Information

Adenia racemosa is a climbing plant producing more or less woody stems up to 8 metres long from a swollen, globose base 20cm or more in diameter. The stems scramble over the ground or climb into the surrounding vegetation, attaching themselves by means of tendrils[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a source of medicines and string. It is grown for ornamental purposes in greenhouses in the temperate regions[].

Known Hazards

Although no specific mention has been seen for this species, the sap of most members of this genus is poisonous[].
