Common Name:

General Information

Adenia firingalavensis is a deciduous, climbing shrub producing a main stem up to 2 metres tall and 50cm in diameter, from which grow climbing or scrambling stems that can be 15 metres long. The plant can climb into the surrounding vegetation, attaching itself by means of tendrils[].
In spite of its large size and slow growth, it is grown by specialist collectors of succulents[].

Known Hazards

The plant is very toxic, it contains the cyanohydrin glycosides volkenin and tetraphyllin B[].

Sheltered places in the shade of dry forest, scrub and rocky areas derived from limestone, at elevations up to 500 metres[].
